2011
These times in which we live,
Have me more confused every day.
It seems to me – technology,
All comes with a price to pay.
We use to write loved ones letters,
Long before the Mailman got robbed.
Less of the snail – you’ve got email,
And the postman lost his job.
That’s like the family down the street,
For over 30 years they owned that store.
Once again – Wally World moved in,
And they were forced to close their doors.
Foreclosure is at an all time high,
And so is the unemployment rate.
Yet, we confess – this here is progress,
And not a moment too late.
It seems to me we lost reality,
When we took prayer out of our schools.
In God we trust – yet we lost touch,
With the value of the golden rule.
The lottery would go toward education,
Millions are spent every day,
Yet I wonder which state – changed the rate,
That Teacher’s received a raise in pay?
I doubt that I’m the only person,
Who finds the logic a little strange.
If we hadn’t missed – on the common sense,
We would be talking about a different type of Change.
They say History repeats itself,
There are some areas I’d welcome back again.
Maybe simpler times – would focus our minds,
And we would stop predicting the world to end.
Poetically Yours,
